Fatal food poisoning: Cops record statements from 22 so far as probe continues

GOMBAK: The police have recorded statements from 22 people to date following the fatal food poisoning case that killed two after a school event here.

The latest statements were recorded from seven individuals, including the headmaster and teachers from the school in Sungai Chinchin.

The investigation paper will be referred to the deputy public prosecutor after the full autopsy report is released, which is estimated to be in a month's time

Gombak OCPD Asst Comm Noor Ariffin Mohamad Nasir confirmed the matter to the media in a text message Thursday (June 20).

The food poisoning incident had led to two deaths after family members brought food back from a school event on June 8.

A 17-year-old boy and a two-year-old girl died days later after consuming what health authorities believe to be a meal of fried bihun and eggs that was served at a school event.

Selangor state Health director Dr Ummi Kalthom Shamsudin previously said that the meal was catered by an external party and that out of the 247 people who ate the meal, 82 (33%) exhibited symptoms.
