A BULL named “Abu”, weighing more than a tonne, is the star of the show at the Qurban Carnival being held in Dengkil, Harian Metro reported.
Tayyib Ranch Sdn Bhd spokesperson Mohd Sakhedan Sidek said the bull’s weight is akin to that of six cows and that it has been sold for RM30,000 to a buyer from Ampang.
“It will be sacrificed during Hari Raya Aidiladha on Monday. Visitors to the carnival can view the bull and buy food for it.
“It is an opportunity for children to see a bull as big as this,” he said.
Mohd Sakhedan said so far, 250 big-sized bulls had been sold since last Tuesday. Among the breeds are Angus, Charolais, Limousin, Piedmontese and Brahman.
“The Brahman breed has a good demand for sacrificial purposes, as its meat is soft and tasty compared with normal-sized breeds,” he explained.
He said the bulls are sold for between RM12,000 and RM30,000 each according to their size.
