Jobless man claims trial to injuring brother with machete


ALOR GAJAH: An unemployed man has pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to injuring his older brother with a sharp weapon.

Muhammad Tuah Md Dali, 27, is accused of voluntarily causing grievous hurt using a machete to his brother, Muhammad Redza, 34, at a house in Kampung Nelayan Kuala Linggi, Kuala Sungai Baru, at around 8:40pm on June 5.

The accused was charged under Section 326 of the Penal Code, read together with Section 326A, which, upon conviction, carries a maximum imprisonment term of up to 20 years and may also include a fine or whipping.

Under Section 326A of the Penal Code, he may face imprisonment for a term up to twice the maximum duration that may be imposed for a conviction under Section 326.

The prosecution was conducted by Deputy Public Prosecutor Muhamad Ehsan Nasarudin, while the accused was unrepresented.

Judge Nariman Badruddin set bail at RM15,000 with the condition that the accused must not interfere with the victim and witnesses during the trial, and set July 22 for remention. – Bernama
