Not so beer-illiant smuggling plan thwarted


KOTA KINABALU: Smugglers tried to pass off contraband beer as consignments of smartphone accessories, household items and spare parts for excavators at the Sepanggar port near here.

The Customs Department however managed to thwart the attempt to smuggle in the some RM1.5mil of beer, including in unpaid taxes, after detecting the items using their scanners at the port.
