SEREMBAN: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) has obtained a seven-day remand order against an enforcement officer for alleged abuse of power.
On Wednesday (June 5), Magistrate Fairuz Syuhada Amran allowed the MACC to remand the suspect, who is in his 30s, until June 11.
The suspect is being probed for allegedly influencing transport companies in Negri Sembilan to appoint his own company for consultancy work.
His company reportedly provides courses and training and would help transport firms apply for commercial licences.
The officer is suspected of committing the offences between 2020 and last year.
According to a source, the suspect was detained at around 9pm on Tuesday (June 4) when he turned up at the state MACC office for questioning.
State MACC director Awgkok Ahmad Taufik Putra Awg Ismail confirmed the arrest.
The suspect is being probed under Section 23 of the MACC Act 2009.
