Navy man beaten up during football match in Lumut base

IPOH: A navy personnel claimed he was beaten up by a group of supporters during a football match inside the navy base in Lumut.

Manjung OCPD Asst Comm Mohamed Nordin Abdullah said the 26-year-man lodged a report on May 28 at 12.53pm.

ACP Nordin said the man claimed that around 7.15pm on May 27, when he was inside the stadium watching a match between the navy’s Paskal and MKPL teams, supporters of the Paskal team started hitting him, as they were not satisfied claiming that the victim had shown an obscene finger sign to them.

“However the victim claimed he had not done any such thing.

“The victim suffered injuries to his right rib, left side of his neck, head, and face,” he said in a statement on Thursday (May 30).

ACP Nordin said the victim received treatment at the military hospital.

“The case is being investigated under Section 147 of the Penal Code for rioting.

“Those with information about the incident can contact the investigating officer Mohd Nazari Yaakob at 017-5729646,” he added.
