A thief brutally murdered his accomplice for pretending to be asleep when they were caught by the railway supervisor of a weighbridge station that they wanted to rob.

Malaysia Nanban reported that thieves had been targeting a defunct railway weighbridge station in Tiruppur city, Tamil Nadu, for the past five years as it was not guarded.

Last Saturday, the railway supervisor known only as Paandi, 45, got to know that some men were stealing from the facility and rushed over there with several men.

One of the three thieves managed to flee upon noticing Paandi’s group approaching them.

Another culprit, Sathish, 38, pretended to be sleeping.

However, the third thief identified as Elumalai, 42, was caught red-handed and given a thrashing by Paandi and his group.

Elumalai, who was furious at his still sleeping buddy, picked up a rock and smashed his head.

The severely injured man was rushed to the hospital but died the following day.

Elumalai was arrested and charged with murder.
