Dad’s bike run to hospital gets Anwar’s eye

KUALA LUMPUR: The case of a father who has to regularly ferry his 11-month-old son with chronic lung problems to the hospital on a motorcycle has caught the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The man’s plight has gone viral on social media and the Prime Minister’s political secretary, Ahmad Farhan Fauzi is requesting anyone with information about the family to share it in the comments section of his Facebook page so that they can be contacted.

“This matter has caught the attention of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, and, God willing, we will assist this family to improve their livelihood,” he said in a Facebook post.

The man has since been identified as Azlan Ishak, 35, a fisherman in Kedah earning a meagre wage who is unable to afford a car and has to commute with his family on a motorcycle to collect medicine for the baby.

He explained that his son suffers from chronic lung problems and needs to use a respirator nearly all the time.
