SHAH ALAM: Over half a million ringgit worth of syabu and ganja were seized after police crippled two drug syndicates operating in Petaling Jaya and Kuala Lumpur.

Selangor police chief Comm Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said police arrested seven suspects following raids in Petaling Jaya and Pantai Dalam, Kuala Lumpur, between May 15 and 16.

“A team of personnel from the Selangor Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) arrested two men and a woman at around 3.10pm on May 15 at a parking lot in Petaling Jaya and seized 10 packages containing 10.03kg of syabu.

“The three suspects are a husband and wife couple and their son,” he told reporters yesterday.

He said nearly an hour later police arrested another male suspect near the same area and found a packet containing 1.03kg of syabu in the car he was driving.

“The suspects were aged between 21 and 44. Two of the suspects caught have prior records for crime and drug offences.

“We seized a total of 11.41kg of syabu worth RM364,800 which was believed to have originated from the golden triangle,” he said, adding that the drugs were meant to be sold within the Klang Valley region.

Comm Hussein said in the second case, police initially caught two men at around 2.30am on May 15 near Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya.

“When we tried to arrest the men, they rammed into our police vehicles and we were forced to fire two shots to disable the pickup truck they were using.

“Upon checking, we seized 22.05kg of ganja which was placed on the rear seat of the vehicle,” he said, adding that at around 10pm on May 16, police arrested another suspect in Pantai Dalam.

He said the suspect led police to an apartment nearby and 21.8kg of ganja was found hidden in a box and a barrel in the hall area.

“The three suspects are aged between 23 and 30, and two of them have prior records for crime and drug offences.

“We have remanded the suspects for seven days,” he said, adding that they seized 43.85kg of ganja worth RM135,966.
