Johor MIC treasurer passes away


JOHOR BARU: Johor MIC treasurer Datuk S. Kanan has passed away at the age of 60.

It was learnt that Kanan breathed his last on Friday (May 17) morning at a specialist hospital in Johor Baru after suffering from a heart attack.

In the 14th General Election, Kanan contested the Skudai state seat but lost to Tan Hong Pin by a 35,126-vote majority.

Kanan, who was previously the Iskandar Puteri MIC division chief, will be cremated at the Johor Baru Hindu Crematorium on Sunday (May 19).

Before the cremation, prayers will be carried out at his house in Kampung Baru Batu 10 in Skudai at 11am.

He left behind his wife and four children.
