Body of newborn girl found in Pantai Dalam

KUALA LUMPUR: The body of a newborn baby girl was found in the parking lot of an apartment at Pantai Dalam here.

Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Ku Mashariman Ku Mahmood said they received a call about the incident at the Putra Ria Apartment at around 9:33 am on Friday.

"The body was found by the apartment manager.

"An ambulance was dispatched to the scene at around 10.25am," he said in a statement on Friday.

He said the body was taken to the Universiti Malaya Medical Centre for post-mortem.

"Our initial findings revealed that the baby's gender is female.

"The umbilical cord was still intact, which leads us to believe that the baby was a newborn," he said, adding that the baby was believed to be of foreign descent.

He said the case had been classified as concealment of birth by secret disposal of a dead body.

Those with information on the case can contact the police hotline at 03-2115 9999 or go to the nearest police station.
