Bus overturns in accident with car near Ipoh


IPOH: A bus that was carrying about 40 people overturned in an accident with a car at KM265 southbound of the North-South Expressway near here.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Sabarodzi Nor Ahmad said all 40 passengers, the bus driver and the driver of the car were not seriously injured during the incident at about 7.30am on Sunday (May 12).

Sabarodzi said the bus had overturned and fell into a ditch on the left side of the road.

"The passengers were on their way to Ipoh from Kupang, Kedah, for a religious event prior to the incident, and the majority of the passengers suffered minor injuries due to the bus overturning.

"After being rescued, they were sent to the Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital in two emergency rescue vehicles and an ambulance from the Health Ministry," he said.

Sabarodzi then added that the firemen from the Meru Raya and Kuala Kangsar stations were involved in the rescue operation.
