A MOTHER in India threw her disabled son into a river and left him to die in the jaws of a crocodile, Makkal Osai reported.

Police, who were called in after a passer-by saw a crocodile with a human child’s body in its jaw, retrieved the victim and questioned the parents after identifying the victim.

During the investigation, it emerged that Savithiri and her husband Ravikumar struggled to take care of six-year-old boy ever since he was born deaf and mute.

After a particularly nasty fight, Savithiri decided to put an end to the boy’s suffering and threw him into the river.

> Educator Dr Segar Narayanan has been recognised for his contributions in education and social work by an NGO based in India, the daily also reported.

Segar, of Institut Pendidikan Guru Kampus Ipoh, has been training teachers for the past 25 years.

He has received the Anugerah Perkhidmatan Cemerlang from the Education Ministry three times and also won the Nambikkai Natcathiram award from the Malaysian Teachers Association.

His latest award is courtesy of ABJ VIP Global, which conferred him the 2024 Best Lecturer award.
