ALOR GAJAH: Melaka police have arrested a 36-year-old unemployed man on suspicion of sodomising a boy over a two-year-period, from the time the alleged victim was nine years old.
He also allegedly forced the boy to watch pornographic videos, police added.
Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Ashari Abu Samah said the man was arrested at his home on Wednesday (May 8) after the victim's mother lodged a police report the day before.
He said the mother, 33, claimed she caught her son watching pornography on her mobile phone when she returned home after work late Tuesday (May 6) evening.
Upon questioning the 11-year-old, Supt Ashari said she learned that the man, the husband of the child's sitter, forced the boy to watch such videos on his mobile phone and then imitate the sex acts.
He said the woman also claimed that her son had been sodomised several times since 2022, when he was just nine years old.
"The mother leaves her son at the sitter's house whenever she has to work at a nearby factory," he said on Thursday (May 9).
Supt Ashari said the man has been remanded for a week from Thursday to help with the probe under Section 14(d) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017.
