Husband and wife killed in Beaufort accident


KOTA KINABALU: A married couple has been killed in an accident in the Beaufort district about 100km from here.

Midin @ Maidin Sinja, 69, and his wife, Jurai Imran, 65, died in the incident at Jalan Kampung Lingkungan around 1.50pm on Sunday (May 5).

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant fire superintendent Riki Mohan Singh Ramday said they were alerted of a collision between two vehicles at 1.56pm.

A team was immediately deployed to the accident site and found two people each trapped in both vehicles.

He said rescuers managed to free the victims but that paramedics at the scene confirmed the couple travelling in the same car had died.

"Two other victims, another married couple aged 69 and 64, were injured," he said.
