KOTA KINABALU: A short clip of a traffic policeman helping an elderly couple cross the road in Sandakan district is being widely circulated.

According to Sandakan OCPD Asst Comm Abdul Fuad Abdul Malek, this heart-warming incident took place at 10.49am on March 31.

“The traffic policeman is Kpl Fadhli Miskon, who was on patrol duty at that time,” he said.

He said Kpl Fadhli was riding his bike along Jalan Buli Sim-Sim when he saw the couple trying to cross a drain.

“He saw that they had trouble getting across the drain, so he stopped to help them before guiding them across the road,” ACP Fuad said.

In the short video, Kpl Fadhli could be seen extending his hand out to the old woman, before pulling her up from inside the drain and then leading them across the busy road.

He continued with his duties after that.

This video was posted on the IPD Sandakan Investigation and Enforcement Division Facebook page and has received over 10,000 likes and been shared over a thousand times as of yesterday.

Netizens praised the cop for his kindness, while many also urged others to emulate him to create a better and more caring society.

ACP Fuad said policemen are not only tasked with keeping the community safe but also with assisting those in need.
