Water supply firm CEO, owner held for bribery and false claims in RM3.3mil project

JOHOR BARU: The chief executive officer and owner of a water supply company have been detained by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) here for allegedly taking bribes and making false claims.

It was learnt that the two men, aged 38 and 35, were arrested at the Selangor MACC office at about 4pm on Tuesday (April 30) to assist in the investigation.

Their arrest comes following a probe launched over several complaints made last year that the two suspects received bribes from the owners of two companies as inducements to help them procure contracts.

Both suspects were brought to a Johor Baru Magistrate's Court on Wednesday (May 1) morning to be remanded.

It was reported earlier that two high-ranking officers of a water supply company were arrested on Monday (April 29) at the Selangor MACC office, also in connection with bribery and false claims.

The men, aged 36 and 40, were remanded on Tuesday.
