Undocumented migrant jailed 40 years for murdering ehailing driver in Tuaran

KOTA KINABALU: An undocumented 24-year-old Filipino has been sentenced to 40 years' jail by the High Court here for murdering an ehailing driver in Tuaran five years ago.

Arsit Indanan was also sentenced to 12 strokes of the cane by Justice Leonard David Shim after he was found guilty of the May 25, 2019 crime.

Justice Shim said Arsit had failed to raise reasonable doubt over the murder at the end of the defence case and found that the prosecution had proven its case beyond reasonable doubt.

Mohammad Hanafiee Jaffar, a 27-year-old ehailing driver, was murdered in his car between 4am and 5am on the day of the incident beside Jalan Marabahai, Tuaran.
