Cops smash drug ring operating from luxury home in Semenyih, 13 nabbed in raids

KAJANG: Police here have busted a drug processing lab that was operating from a house at a luxury housing estate in Semenyih, where they seized more than 300kg of drugs.

A total of eight men and five women aged between 21 and 51 were nabbed in three raids conducted in Kajang and Kuala Lumpur last Friday (April 26).

Bukit Aman Narcotic Crime Investigation Department (NCID) director Comm Datuk Khaw Kok Chin said the syndicate was masterminded by a 24-year-old man, who also acted as a chemist for the syndicate.

"He would arrange the operational side of the syndicate including drug processing and distribution while his wife and lovers were involved in renting the house and condominium unit as well as managing the syndicate's finances.

"The other syndicate members worked as runners and transporters.

"We believe they have been operating for about a year," he told a press conference at Kajang police headquarters on Monday (April 29).

Comm Khaw said the raids on April 26 were conducted simultaneously.

"We stopped and inspected a vehicle at the Cheras-Kajang Expressway and seized 2.4kg of heroin.

"Further investigation led the raiding team to a house in Semenyih, where 7.31kg of heroin, 4.5kg of chemicals, 13.644kg of liquid containing drugs were seized along with equipment to process drugs.

"The last raid was a condominium at KL Sentral. We seized 26.25kg of syabu, 55.33kg of heroin and 4.208kg of ganja," he said.

Comm Khaw said the drugs seized were worth RM1.48mil and it could have been supplied to 465,386 users.

"Five of the suspects had prior criminal records while two of them tested positive for tetrahydrocannabinol (THC).

"All of them have been remanded until Friday (May 3)," he added.

Several of the syndicate's assets worth RM1.08mil were also seized including 13 vehicles, RM213,000 cash and jewelleries, he added.

"The vehicles were rented. The house at the luxury housing estate was rented for RM2,000 a month while the condominium unit was rented from RM3,200 a month.

"The syndicate catered to the local Klang Valley market and they would distribute the drugs to smaller dealers based on orders. They would also use courier services for trafficking drugs," he said.

The syndicate would process the drugs at the house in Semenyih before storing the drugs at the condominium at KL Sentral, Comm Khaw added.

"We are still tracking down the remnants of the syndicate. We urge those with information on any drug related activities to contact the NCID hotline at 012-2087222," he said.
