TAIWANESE Internet celebrity Ili Cheng failed in her bid to have legal action taken against some 50 people who had criticised her for auctioning her unwashed lingerie for a charity event, China Press reported.

This came about when Cheng released a photo album in 2022 that featured her in 25 pieces of lingerie that were later auctioned off to raise funds for charity.

But Internet users were critical, saying she had set a bad example for young people.

Cheng, 30, later said she had reported about 50 users to the Public Prosecutor’s Office.

The Public Prosecutor’s Office recently announced it had dropped the case, saying that Cheng, being a celebrity, was subject to public scrutiny.

The expression of distaste for Cheng’s actions was the people’s right to form an opinion on the matter, it added.

Cheng is known as the “Chicken Cutlet Girl” after her video for a fried chicken cutlet restaurant went viral in 2012.

She married a Japanese paediatrician in November 2022.

> A woman in China’s Zhejiang province splashed boiling water on her husband after he physically assaulted her, Sin Chew Daily reported.

CCTV footage from April 9 shows the couple arguing in the living room. This is followed by the man repeatedly beating the woman. Half an hour later, the woman is seen pouring scalding water from a pail on the man’s head. She then calmly walks away.

The severely injured man is currently undergoing skin grafting.

Apparently, the woman had been pestering her husband to give money to her family.
