DPM Fadillah pays last respects to Joseph Kurup

KOTA KINABALU: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof took time off from his busy schedule to pay his last respects to former Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah president Tan Sri Joseph Kurup on Friday.

Fadillah, who was on an official visit to Sabah, arrived at the Fook Lu Siew funeral parlour at Jalan Tuaran at around 5.45pm, and was greeted by Joseph's eldest son, Datuk Arthur Kurup who is Deputy Agriculture and Food Security Minister.

Fadillah was seen giving words of comfort to Joseph's wife, Puan Sri Melinda Mak Soak Fong and chatted with Sabah politicians Parti Bersatu Sabah’s secretary-general Datuk Julita Majungki and information chief Datuk Joniston Bangkuai and Datuk Flovia Ng from Sabah STAR.

Earlier, Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor also paid his last respects to the late Joseph at 9am.

Joseph, who held numerous ministerial posts in the state and federal levels during his four decades in politics, was hospitalised for almost a month at the National Heart Institute (IJN) before passing away on Wednesday (April 17).

A funeral service will be held at the parlour at 9am next Tuesday (April 23).
