KUALA LUMPUR: A man has been arrested on suspicion of murdering his six-month-old son who was found unconscious in an apartment unit in Beranang, Selangor, on Monday.
Kajang district deputy police chief Supt Mohamad Nasir Drahman said that the 25-year-old local man was arrested at the Kajang Hospital Forensic compound at 11.30pm on the day of the incident.
“The suspect lodged a police report on Monday at 8.52am that the baby was found unconscious in a unit in Baiduri Apartment, Bandar Tasik Kesuma, Beranang.
“Initial examinations found that there were no injuries on the victim’s body, but the results of the post-mortem confirmed that there were injuries on the victim’s head, which were not caused by an accident,” he said in a statement, reported Bernama.He said the suspect tested positive for syabu and was remanded for seven days until April 22 for further investigation.
Supt Mohamad Nasir said the case was classified as murder and investigated according to Section 302 of the Penal Code.
He urged those with information to contact the nearest police station or investigating officer Asst Supt S. Vekram at 019-473 7108.
In a separate case, the body of a baby boy was found in the toilet cistern at the Kampung Pasir Simpul Mosque, in Kuala Berang, Terengganu on Tuesday.
Village development and security committee chairman Muhammad Mustaffa said the body was found by a cleaner in his 40s when he was cleaning the women’s toilets at about 7pm.
“After cleaning the toilet, he flushed the toilet cistern and blood-like liquid came out with a foul smell.
“The cleaner, who thought the toilet cistern was clogged, decided to dig it out with a stick and out came the baby’s hand in a state of decomposition,” he said when met by reporters at the mosque.
Muhammad said the cleaner immediately called him before he rushed to the mosque and alerted the police.
Hulu Terengganu district police chief Deputy Supt Zainul Mujahidin Mat Yudin confirmed the incident and said the baby boy is believed to have died more than 24 hours before being found.
