Peeping Tom sought by Kota Kinabalu police

KOTA KINABALU: Police are looking for a man suspected of using his mobile phone to record a woman in a toilet at a mall here.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Zaidi Abdullah said according to a report lodged by the victim on April 7, the incident occurred the day before.

The victim had entered the toilet at around 8.40pm when she noticed a hand with a mobile phone under the door, he said.

The victim screamed when she saw that someone was recording her.

“Following her police report, police retrieved a closed circuit television (CCTV) recording of a man around the area at that time,” ACP Zaidi said.

The suspect is believed to be in his 20s, has a thin moustache, was wearing a black T-shirt and brown coloured pants at that time of the incident, he added.

He said a photo of a man whom they believe can shed light on the case has been released to the public.

ACP Zaidi urged the person come forward to facilitate investigations under Section 509 of the Penal Code for insulting the modesty of a woman.

Those with information can contact investigating officer Sjn Wan Azman Mat Salleh at 012-826 0050.
