‘No shielding padi cartels’

KUALA LUMPUR: The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry (KPKM) will not protect any party found to be involved in rice and padi cartel activities in the country, says its minister Datuk Seri Mohamad Sabu.

He clarified the matter in a post on his Facebook page yesterday, following inquiries regarding the issue.

In this regard, Mohamad Sabu stressed that KPKM is prepared to provide any information to the Malaysia Competition Commission if there is indeed a rice cartel and assured that the ministry will not interfere in any of its investigations, Bernama reported.
