Inter-monsoon monitoring gets early start

MELAKA: The state government has carried out early preparations to monitor weather changes during the inter-monsoon period, which started on March 29.

Housing, local government and disaster management committee chairman Datuk Rais Yasin said the state held discussions with the National Disaster Management Agency and Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) on the weather patterns during the inter-monsoon period.

“We are always in touch with MetMalaysia and other related agencies... so that we can alert the affected areas fast.

“For now, there have been no incidents of severe flooding or other related natural disasters in the state,” he said yesterday.
