THE Malaysia Silamba Kazhagam will be sending 180 Silambam exponents to Sukma Games 2024, Makkal Osai reported.

Its president Dr S. Suresh said the organisation had not been taking part in the sports event since 2013, and this year, it would join the silambam competition.

“We will be sending 53 officials,” he said, adding that silambam groups from India, Brunei and Qatar had been invited as observers.

Sukma 2024 will be held in Kuching from Aug 17-24, featuring 34 events including silambam – an Indian martial art that is being included as a medal event for the first time.

The boy, identified only as Satvik from Kerala, fell into the hole while playing outside his house.

Neighbours who heard his cries alerted his parents and the authorities who swung into rescue.

A 6.4m parallel borehole was excavated next to the well.

The boy was brought to safety and rushed to hospital for treatment. His condition was reported to be stable.
