A MAN in Kota Kinabalu was shocked to find a plaster in a bowl of mee hoon soup he ordered for his grandfather, Sin Chew Daily reported.
The man, whose Facebook handle was Shawn Cgy, posted about the incident on social media, tagging the Sabah Health Department.
He warned the public to be wary of foreign objects in their food.
Shawn wrote that he took his grandparents out for lunch and ordered two bowls of mee hoon soup with meat.
His grandpa even praised the chef for how thin the slices were.
However, the older man noticed an exceptionally thin slice and told his grandson.
Alarmed, Shawn brought the object to the shop’s owner only to be told that it appeared to be a plaster from an injured employee.
She apologised and said they did not have to pay for their food.
“My grandpa told her that used plasters would have been filled with bacteria and he could get food poisoning.
“The owner had the audacity to say that the incident was not serious.
She even said she could not monitor all her employees all the time.
Many Internet users criticised the owner for her dismissive attitude.
Others pointed out that it was standard protocol for workers in the kitchen to wear gloves.
