Perak cops nab four involved in promoting illegal loans and gambling services at bazaar

IPOH: The case involving several people distributing business cards that promote online gambling and illegal loans at a Ramadan bazaar here has been solved, says Comm Datuk Seri Mohd Yusri Hassan Basri.

The Perak top cop said police had detained two more suspects who distributed the cards at the bazaar.

"The case has been solved. We have made a total of four arrests, including a married couple, who were arrested much earlier," he told a press conference after witnessing the handover of duties between outgoing Ipoh OCPD Asst Comm Yahaya Hassan and his successor ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad on Thursday (April 4).

On Monday (April 1), police arrested two suspects, a 54-year-old man and his wife, aged 53, who were believed to be the the scheme's ringleaders in Sitiawan.

This came following a viral video of a man, who was seen distributing the cards and being confronted by traders at the bazaar.

The married man admitted to hiring two others, both of whom were disabled, to hand out the cards with him at the bazaar.
