It doesn’t take marriage to put a ring on it

THE daughter of ‘Queen of Cantopop’ Faye Wong denied that she got married, China Press reported.

Speculation was rife when Dou Jingtong was seen wearing rings in a social media post.

Dou sang three songs and attracted a crowd when attending a charity event in Tsim Sha Tsui, Hong Kong, along with celebrities such as Karen Mok and Joey Yung.

She also jokingly claimed to have better cooking skills than her mother, in both Chinese and Western dishes, with her speciality being egg fried rice.

Dou will be starring in a television drama this year as a character skilled in martial arts and cooking, a role she found enjoyable after training in boxing for six months.

She expressed interest in learning skiing from her mother’s boyfriend, Nicholas Tse.

The couple went skiing in Japan recently, but Dou did not join them.

> A veteran Malay actress said she has not received any television station invitation for the past 10 years, the daily also reported.

Hamidah Wahab, 66, said she started her career in 1974 and used to receive offers almost every year from TV stations such as RTM or TV3.

Now, however, a film production company offered her just RM150 for a four-day shoot, which left her feeling upset.

“Have I been in this industry for too long? Or is my performance not good enough and needs to be replaced by a new generation of actors?” she said in venting her frustration.

Datuk Rahim Razali, a veteran actor and director in the Malay entertainment industry, was shocked upon hearing the news.

“Do they think we are too old?” he said in disbelief that experienced actors like Hamidah were offered such low pay.
