Cops apprehend trio in connection with Jalan Kong Peng theft case


KLUANG: Police have arrested three men for allegedly being involved in a theft case in Jalan Kong Peng, Paloh, here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said police received a report regarding the case at 4.40am on Monday (March 25).

“A follow-up investigation led to the arrest of the trio at Taman Kota on Wednesday (March 27) between 10.30am and 3.40pm.

“The suspects, aged 21 and 44, were arrested under Section 379 of the Penal Code for theft,” he said in a statement here on Saturday (March 30).

He added that the first suspect tested positive for methamphetamine and had priors involving crime, while the third suspect had priors involving drugs.

He said the police had also confiscated three mobile phones and two ATM cards.

Meanwhile, in an unrelated case, ACP Bahrin said that a 30-year-old man was arrested for snatch theft at a petrol station in Layang-Layang.

“The suspect was arrested at Jalan Pejabat Pos, and a background check revealed priors involving crimes and drugs. He also tested positive for methamphetamine,” he said.

The case is being investigated under Section 395/397 of the Penal Code for armed robbery.
