Movies with LGBTQ elements not allowed

MOVIES with content that “promote” the LGBTQ lifestyle will not be approved for screening in Malaysia, says Home Minister Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail.

He said the same applies to films containing elements of communism, Islamophobia, deviant teachings and those that contradict the Islamic faith.

“In recent years, there has been an increase in films containing elements that contradict the societal values and norms in Malaysia entering the market.

“Films will need to be screened and if deemed excessive, the decision to not approve them will be promptly issued,” he said.

He said the government has never ratified any international conventions related to LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and queer) issues, nor does it recognise any LGBTQ lifestyle.
