Cop’s student murder case moved to High Court


IPOH: The case of a senior police officer who was charged with murdering a 17-year-old student in a road accident in December last year has been transferred to the High Court.

Magistrate S. Punitha made the decision following the request by deputy public prosecutor Afzainizam Abdul Aziz.

According to Section 177A(1) of the Criminal Procedure Code, the case in which Deputy Supt Mohd Nazri Abdul Razak was charged under Section 302 of the Penal Code can be transferred to the High Court.

No date has been set for mention at the High Court.

DSP Mohd Nazri was charged on Dec 18 last year.

He was alleged to have committed the offence against Muhammad Zaharif Affendi Muhd Zamrie at Jalan Taman Jati, near SMK Jati, between 12.05pm and 12.40pm on Dec 15.

Saiful Akmal Mod Said and Nasrul Hadi Abdul Ghani are also members of the prosecution team, while Cindy Wong represented DSP Mohd Nazri.

Also present were the deceased’s elder brother, his uncles and lawyer Datuk Zamri Idrus, who was holding a watching brief for the victim’s family.
