MIC deputy president Datuk Seri M. Saravanan announced that he will not be challenging incumbent president Tan Sri SA Vigneswaran for the party’s top post, Malaysia Nanban reported.

Saravanan confirmed the matter at a press conference to announce the dates for nominations and the party polls, scheduled for March 27 and April 12 respectively.

Vigneswaran’s term as president ends on May 25 and he has held the post since July 2018.

Saravanan said that after the late Tun S. Samy Vellu, Vigneswaran’s time as president has seen the largest increase in MIC’s asset holdings. His presidency has the full support of the entire party and the party’s top officials have collectively decided not to contest for the post, Saravanan added.

The stunt, which polluted the lake and could have caused potential damage to the pumps, enraged YouTube users. The three men were arrested and charged in court.
