Government has disbursed RM40mil matching grant to TAR UMT, says Dr Wee


PETALING JAYA: The Treasury Department has disbursed a RM40mil matching grant to TARC Education Foundation, says Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong.

He thanked Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim for the support given to TAR UMT.

"TAR UMT was given the confirmation that the RM40mil would be allocated in Budget 2024," said Dr Wee on Facebook on Monday (March 18).

"On Jan 17, I sent a letter to the Prime Minister on the disbursement of this year's allocation and the electronic fund transfer of RM40mil was made on March 8.

"I had an opportunity to chat with Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim before entering the Dewan Rakyat this morning and as the Board Of Trustees chairman of TARC Education Foundation, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the Prime Minister as the Finance Minister," said the MCA president, adding that the Prime Minister had said that priority was given to quality education.
