Man arrested for damaging statues at Simpang Renggam temple


KLUANG: Police have arrested a man for allegedly causing damage to statues at a Chinese temple in Simpang Renggam here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said a police report was lodged on Wednesday (March 13) at around 10.40am over damage on five statues that were hit with a hammer at the temple in Taman Rekamas here.

"Following the incident, police arrested a local suspect at Kampung Kurnia near Bandar Dato Ibrahim Majid in Simpang Renggam at around 1.20am on Thursday (March 14).

"Check on the suspect, who is in his 30’s, found he has no previous criminal record and also tested negative for drugs," he said here on Saturday (March 16).

ACP Bahrin added that the suspect was currently under remand for four days to assist with the investigation under Section 295 of the Penal Code.
