Kimanis records unhealthy API of 155 amid localised fires


KOTA KINABALU: Sabah’s south-western Kimanis recorded unhealthy air quality levels amid numerous localised fires.

The Environment Department website showed that Kimanis began to record an unhealthy air pollutant index (API) of 125 at 11pm, Wednesday (March 13), and it continued to rise to 155 API as at 1pm, Thursday (March 14).

The rest of the areas in Sabah including Kota Kinabalu hovered at a moderate level between 75 to 81 API, Labuan at 57 API to 61 API, Tawau at 52 to 54 API, while Sandakan and Keningau are not affected by the haze.

According to officials, firemen are continuing to put out localised bush, jungle, garbage and peat fires.
