Foreigner held for molesting 14-year-old girl

AMPANG: A Pakistani man has been arrested for molesting a teenager at a shop in Kampung Pandan here, say police.

The suspect brushed his privates against the girl’s back while holding her shoulders just moments after asking the 14-year-old for her mobile phone number.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the incident occurred around 2.30pm on Monday at a shop providing fan repair services.

“We received a report from the 14-year-old complainant who said she was waiting to be served by staff at the shop when the suspect approached her and asked for her mobile number.

“She claimed that while she was using her phone, the suspect touched her shoulders with both his hands,” ACP Mohd Azam said in a statement yesterday.

He said the suspect then brushed his private parts against her back twice.

“The girl immediately went home and told her parents about the incident. Her parents then brought her to a police station to lodge a report,” he said.

ACP Mohd Azam said this led to the arrest of the 48-year-old Pakistani.

“We have remanded the suspect for seven days to help with investigations,” he said, adding that the case has been classified as physical sexual assault on a child under Section 14(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act.
