Doctor charged with molesting employee


BAHAU: A doctor has claimed trial at the Magistrate’s Court here to a charge of molesting his employee.

Dr Mohamad Amin Razaly, 36, pleaded not guilty to using criminal force with the intention of outraging the modesty of his 25-year-old female worker when the charge was read to him before magistrate Norshazwani Ishak.

He was charged with committing the offence at his clinic at Bandar Baru Serting near here at about 10.30pm on Feb 19.

The accused was charged under Section 354 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to 10 years or whipping or fine or any of the two penalties upon conviction.

Deputy public prosecutor Farahidah Zool Beri asked the court to set bail at RM10,000 in one surety.

She said the accused or his family members should not contact or harass the victim.

Dr Mohamad Amin told the court that he could not afford the bail amount.

The accused pledged to be present in court whenever required.

The magistrate then set bail at RM5,000 with one surety and ordered the accused and his family members to stay away from the victim till the case was disposed of.

Next mention was fixed for April 29 to enable the accused to engage a lawyer.
