Driver killed, others hurt in collision with glass trailer


ALOR GAJAH: An express bus driver was killed and two passengers seriously injured after the bus crashed into the rear of a trailer carrying glass sheets.

The accident occurred at KM220.4 of the North-South Expressway northbound, near here.

Alor Gajah OCPD Supt Arshad Abu said in the 2.30am accident on Monday, the victim Zulkarnain Jalil, 41, suffered injuries to his body and died at the scene, while two of the bus passengers sustained serious injuries.

“Six other passengers sustained minor injuries,” he said.

He said the bus ferrying 30 passengers was on its way to Kuala Lumpur from Larkin, Johor.

Supt Arshad said the 44-year-old driver of the trailer was on his way to Senawang, Negri Sembilan, from Kota Tinggi, Johor.

He said the trailer was in the fast lane of the expressway when the oncoming bus rammed into it.
