SEREMBAN: Police have seized 5.2kg of syabu from a couple in an operation in Nilai near here.

State police chief Dep Comm Datuk Ahmad Dzaffir Mohd Yussof said the duo, who were in their early 40s and believed to be members of a syndicate, were detained in front of a row of shops around 1.50am on Monday (March 11).

"A police team had stopped the suspects' car at a car park, and upon checking the vehicle, they found the drugs concealed in five packets," he said in a statement.

He said the seized drugs could be used by some 10,450 syabu addicts.

Police believe the drugs were for the Klang Valley market.

DCP Ahmad Dzaffir said a urine test conducted on the male suspect came back positive for methamphetamine abuse.

The male suspect also had four previous drug-related records and two criminal cases.

He said police had obtained a court order to remand the duo for seven days to assist in investigations.

The case was being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same legislation.
