KOTA KINABALU: Firefighters from the Kota Kinabalu and Lintas Fire Stations had to make a 1km before they could put out a fire in Kampung Saga, Menggatal, near here.

Sabah Fire and Rescue Department assistant director (operations) Hamsa Isnurdini said the teams realised there was no access for fire engines at location.

The 12-member team from Kota Kinabalu and eight from Lintas had carry all necessary equipment to the location in the 11am incident.

He said four houses built over water were completely destroyed while two houses sustained 10% damage and three others were saved.

"A man named Dadin in his 40s, who suffered burns on his face was sent to the hospital. Another man, also in his 40s, sustained hand injuries and received on-site treatment," he said in a statement on Saturday (March 9).

He added that the fire was brought under control at 11.15 am and the operation ended at 12.06pm. – Bernama
