More than 27,000 Armed Forces personnel left service from 2020-2024, Khaled tells Parliament


PETALING JAYA: Some 27,254 Armed Forces personnel left the service between 2020 to 2024, the Dewan Rakyat was told.

Of the number, Defence Minister Datuk Seri Khaled Nordin (pic) said 3,545 were terminated for disciplinary matters.

"Concurrently, 18,664 had completed their service and received pensions, 3,683 completed their service without pensions, 740 were unsuitable for service, 169 for health reasons and 453 had passed away," he said in a written parliamentary reply on Friday (March 8).

He added that their service periods ceased in accordance with Armed Forces (Terms of Service of Regular Forces) Regulations 2013 and other regulations under the Armed Forces Act 1972.

Khaled was responding to a question by Commander (R) Nordin Ahmad Ismail (PN-Lumut) who asked about the total number of armed forces personnel whose services were ended between 2020 to 2024, and the reasons for it.
