Two killed after trailer crashes into another trailer on NSE near Gopeng


IPOH: Two men were killed when the trailer they were in crashed into the back of another trailer at KM294.8 northbound of the North South Expressway near Gopeng.

Perak Fire and Rescue Department operations centre officer-in-charge Nashuha Fahd Ahmad Mijar said the two victims were found trapped in the badly smashed cab of their vehicle following the 9am incident on Thursday (March 7).

"The two victims were the driver and attendant of the trailer. Their trailer, which was transporting chicken cages, also caught fire and was 40% burnt due to the crash," he said in a statement.

"Their bodies have been handed over to the police for the next course of action," he added.

As for the other trailer that was loaded with rocks, Nashuha Fahd said the driver was injured after the crash.

"He has been handed over to medical personnel for treatment," he said, adding that the rescue operation ended at about 11.30am.
