Man caught assaulting daughter sent to jail

KUALA PILAH: A 47-year-old man, who was captured in a video clip hitting his teenage daughter which eventually led to her requiring 12 stitches, has been jailed for five years.

The man, an OKU-card holder who is also facing another charge of raping the 17-year-old girl, pleaded guilty after the charge was read to him before Sessions Court judge Norma Ismail.

He was charged with committing the offence against her at a house in Kota in Rembau at around 11.45pm on Jan 23.

This came under Section 324 of the Penal Code, which outlines the act of voluntarily causing hurt by a dangerous weapon or means, read together with Section 326A of the same legislation.

Police arrested the suspect on Jan 24 after a clip went viral of the incident.

In the clip, the man could be seen kicking the victim and hitting her with a plastic chair, basket and ironing board.

The girl later told a doctor examining her that her father had raped her on Nov 12, 2023.

According to her, her parents divorced when she was four years old and she had been living with her grandmother in Rantau.

In June 2022, she moved in with her father and his girlfriend while continuing her secondary school education in Tampin.

The suspect also claimed trial at the Seremban Sessions Court on Feb 1 over the rape charge.
