HOSPITALS in Ningbo, China, are seeing an increasing number of patients suffering from anal fissures after the Chinese New Year holiday.

Dr Cui Wei from Ningbo First Hospital said consuming mostly meat was the main cause of the condition, reported China Press.

He added that most of the patients were aged between 20 and 30.

One of these patients, whose surname is Wu, said he had a whale of a time during the festivities as it coincided with his cousin’s wedding.

He ate so much that he ended up being constipated on the second day of the New Year.

“When I saw bloodstains in the toilet, I realised that I had haemorrhoids,” Wu said.

Dr Cui, who examined Wu, said he had a small tear on his anus called an anal fissure. “Fortunately, the condition is not serious and is treatable,” he said.

> The daily also reported that Malaysian influencer Elyn Leong not only passed the first elimination round of the reality series Produce Camp Asia but made it to the top five trainees.

When the results were announced, Leong was stunned.

“I am proud to be here because this opportunity can help me take care of my family members and give them a better life,” she said.

Produce Camp Asia is filmed in Thailand and is a spin-off of the Chinese reality TV show Produce 101.
