Strong enough to forgive

DESPITE her face being scarred by an acid attack, Tan Hui Linn has forgiven her assailant who happened to be her father, China Press reported.

Her father had attacked her and her mother in 2009 while they were sleeping. Her mother died and even though Hui Linn survived, she was blinded in the right eye and was left with scars on her face and body.

Hui Linn, who underwent corrective surgeries in South Korea, eventually completed her studies and became an auditor.

The story of Hui Linn, now 32, is detailed in a book by her friend Lim Choon Lian.

An anthology, the book titled Her Strength went on sale last month.

It features stories of outstanding women in Malaysia such as writer Haifeng, animal rescuer Cash Thong, and cancer survivor Angel Tan.

> Former Korean girl-group member Seo Ji-soo became the number one trending topic on Chinese social media after she was photographed working in a factory, Sin Chew Daily reported.

The 30-year-old, who quit singing after the girl band Lovelyz disbanded in 2021, was spotted working with power tools in what appears to be a factory.

Internet users were astonished that a former music idol would be willing to work in a factory.

Seo later responded to such comments, saying that she preferred to work rather than to do nothing.

“It was a decision I made after giving it much thought. This is my life. If I fail at one thing, I can try my hand at another.”

Netizens praised Seo for being humble and her never-give-up attitude.

“She is earning money with her own effort. It is honest work. There is nothing bad about it,” one Internet user wrote.

It was reported that Seo took on a few acting roles after Lovelyz disbanded, worked in clothing retail, and live-streamed on AfreecaTv.
