IPOH: Some 200 job opportunities have been created from the setting up of a solar panel production factory here from China, says Datuk Seri Saarani Mohamad.

The Mentri Besar said this was just the figure for the first quarter of the year.

He said more job opportunities could be generated in stages by solar cell encapsulation films producer Sinopont Everthriving Malaysia Sdn Bhd.

“It is a crucial milestone for the investment sector in Perak,” he said in his speech at the launch of the factory at the Tasek Industrial Area near here yesterday.

The factory, established by Zhejiang Sinopont Technology Co Ltd, marks the company’s first venture outside China.

With a production capacity of 85 million sq m, it aims to meet a demand of 10 gigawatts and supports Perak’s vision for green technology under the Perak Sejahtera 2030 plan.

Saarani stressed the collaboration’s importance in promoting sustainable community development and thanked the company for their trust in the state.

“I am grateful to witness the realisation of this collaboration, which will bring significant benefits to the people and further stimulate the economic development of the state,” he said.
