One killed, two injured in motorcycle accident near Batu Pahat


BATU PAHAT: A 56-year-old man was killed and two others injured after their motorcycles crashed with one another at KM82.4 of the North-South Expressway (NSE).

Batu Pahat acting OCPD Supt Shahrulanuar Mushaddat Abdullah Sani said that the incident occurred at 6.30am on Saturday (March 2) when the trio was heading north from Johor Baru.

"Upon arriving in Ayer Hitam, the three motorcycle riders who were travelling together in a convoy collided with one another.

"The crash had caused the victim, identified as Muhamad Sagap, to suffer a serious injury and was pronounced dead at the location.

"Regarding the two other motorcycle riders, one, aged 38, suffered a serious head injury, while the other, aged 46, suffered a serious neck injury," he said in a statement.

He added that there was also an SUV, driven by a 29-year-old woman behind the trio when the incident happened. It managed to evade the collision and crashed into the road divider.

"All of the surviving victims have been brought to the Sultanah Nora Ismail Hospital for treatment," he said, adding that the woman was unharmed.

The case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road and Transport Act of 1987.
