Doctor nabbed for allegedly molesting female employee

JEMPOL: Police have detained a 36-year-old doctor of a private clinic here for allegedly molesting his female employee.

Jempol police chief Supt Hoo Chang Hook said the 24-year-old victim, who only started working for the doctor about a month ago, lodged a report regarding the alleged incident at about 6pm on Feb 28.

“The victim, who works as an assistant at the clinic, claimed that the incident happened at an employee resting room after working hours on Feb 24.

“She also claimed that this was the second time the suspect had molested her,” Supt Hoo said, adding that the first incident allegedly happened on Feb 19.

He said the incident left the victim traumatised and she eventually told her family members about it.

A report was then lodged.

Supt Hoo added that police have since recorded statements from several witnesses to assist in the probe.

“The suspect was detained around noon on Thursday, and we obtained an order from a Magistrate’s Court here yesterday to detain him for three days,” he said.

Supt Hoo said police were wrapping up their probe, and the investigation papers would be submitted to the deputy public prosecutor for further action.

The case, he said, was being investigated under Section 354 of the Penal Code for using force with intent to outrage a person’s modesty.

Offenders can be jailed up to 10 years, fined, whipped, or any two of the punishments upon conviction.
