Wanted man detained at Ampang roadblock


AMPANG: A man wanted for a drug-related offence was detained at a roadblock at the Bukit Teratai toll plaza here.

Ampang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Mohd Azam Ismail said the suspect was riding a motorcycle when he was stopped for an inspection at about 6pm on Tuesday (Feb 27).

"The traffic police on duty at the roadblock did not find any illegal items on the suspect or the motorcycle.

"However, further checks revealed that the man is wanted for an offence under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 in relation to a police report at Kampung Baru Subang.

"The suspect was brought to the Ampang Jaya Traffic Investigation and Enforcement division for further action," he said in a statement on Wednesday (Feb 28).

ACP Mohd Azam said a total of 62 other motorcyclists and the same number of motorcycles were inspected during the roadblock.

"A total of 49 summonses were issued for various offences including not having a valid driving license and expired road tax. A total of 10 motorcycles were seized for illegal modifications," he added.
